All roll off dumpster sizes have a large door (sometimes called a swing gate) on one end. The door almost always opens to the right.

Yes! Smaller dumpsters are low enough that you can toss debris in over the side without opening the door. But with a 30 or 40 yard dumpster — which can be 6 to 8 feet tall — using the door is almost always necessary for bulky or heavy items.
Roll off dumpsters are typically between 7 and 8 feet wide. To swing the door open fully, you’ll want a little more than 8 feet of clearance behind the dumpster.
The door is always located on the back end of the dumpster when it comes off the truck.
