Residential Dumpster Rental FAQs

How should I prepare for my dumpster rental?

There are just a few things to remember when preparing for your dumpster delivery:

1. Make sure there is enough clearance for the truck to drop off the dumpster. The truck will need at least 60 feet in length, 60 feet in height and 12 feet in width to be able to maneuver for delivery and pickup of the dumpster.

2. Make sure nothing is blocking the dumpster placement area. This includes small things like a residential trash can. The drivers are not allowed to move things, so just make sure the area is clear for drop off and pickup. If access is blocked, it will often result in a dry run fee.

3. You do NOT have to be there, or wait for the driver for pickup or delivery. 3. If you would like to provide a little protection for your driveway, you can put down plywood. It’s rare for a dumpster to cause damage to a driveway, but it’s not impossible. Plywood may reduce that risk.

How much does a dumpster rental cost?

Dumpster rental prices will depend on the area where you live and by the dumpster size. At Trash Daddy the range can be from $395 to $995. We don’t post exact prices online because the dumpster rental cost is influenced heavily by local economic factors like fuel prices and landfill costs which can change quickly.

We work hard to keep our prices low while still providing the absolute best service. But, you don’t have to take our word for it. Check out our 400+ 5-star reviews. Many of them mention our low dumpster rental pricing in addition to our excellent customer service.

To check current dumpster rental prices, you can use our popular live chat, give us a call, or email us. We are very easy to reach.

What items cannot go in a dumpster?

Almost anything can be thrown in a roll off. But there are a few things that are not allowed. We have a page dedicated to prohibited items. See that page for more detail. Below is a list of items that cannot go in a dumpster:

Electronics (TVs, computers, etc.), refrigerators, AC units, hot water heaters, fluorescent bulbs, car batteries and lithium batteries, tires, air conditioners, latex paint cans and chemicals, household cleaners, propane tanks, explosive materials, adhesives, medical waste, oil & gasoline, contaminated soil, asbestos, or any other hazardous chemicals.

How long can I keep my dumpster rental?

Your rental period depends on the area. In most areas you can keep a dumpster for up to 30 days, but it would be rare for a residential job to take that long. Most residential roll off customers keep the dumpster 5-7 days on average.

At Trash Daddy most areas have a rental period of 14 days. However, some are 10 or 7 days. Check your service area for details. If you need the container for longer, it’s fine. It’s just an extra charge of $15 to $20 per day.
